Each ATO combatant can be tested for HIV/AIDS

Voluntary testing members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the aim of early diagnosis of HIV/AIDS is initiated in ATO zone, as reported by ATO HQ press center.

The testing was made possible due to cooperation of the medical service of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the International Institute for HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

“60 thousand of free immunochromatographic rapid tests are transferred for the needs of the medical service in ATO zone”, said the head of the Medical Support Department of the ATO headquarters, Colonel of Medical Service Eduard Khoroshun. “Testing is carried out by field medical teams of military mobile field hospitals with the involvement of epidemiologists of mobile sanitary-epidemiological groups”.

According to Khoroshun, when testing, the principles of voluntariness, confidentiality and anonymity, if needed, will be respected. According to the head of the Medical Support Department of the ATO headquarters, testing is positively perceived in the army both among military officers and among contractors.
