Professional College of Chuhuiv and Chuhuiv Agrarian Professional Lyceum are now in a difficult position, as in the current year their financing from the state budget was discontinued. But the city budget did not provide such expenditures as these vocational educational institutions are in the municipal property of the community and not only students from Chuhuiv are learning there.
Teachers and students admit that many of them are desperate, because since December they do not receive salaries and scholarships.
This problematic issue was raised at the Association of Ukrainian cities and it was talked a lot about at the state level, but... nothing changed.
Then Chuhuiv human rights defenders initiated an emergency allocation, even on a temporary basis – the funds for the vocational school, in order to keep them from death. The Chairman of Chuhuiv human rights Roman Lykhachov, who is a member of the Chuhuiv City Council, addressed the City Council with the relevant statement*. On March 25, 2016 the City Council allocated UAH 4 million on financing the above professional institutions.
Now we can only hope that in the nearest future the Verkhovna Rada will vote for the law on the financing of vocational schools, as amended by the President, and vocational education in Ukraine will be prevented from destruction.
