On Friday, July 22 the first round table "The establishment of community policing" was held.
Police initially shared success, presented the program of school officers, told about the charity and the local donor programs in which they actively participated.
Further important public problems were announced, which lead to an increase in crime. Representatives of public organizations, media, local activists and employees of regional centers of free secondary legal aid in Kherson region added the list.
Every problem voiced by the participants was analyzed. They assessed the available resources and agreed to establish 7 initiative groups. Each of them developed a plan for solving the problem: lack of shelter for the homeless, road safety, domestic violence, especially in families of combatants, spontaneous trade, cooperation with mass media, the low level of legal awareness among citizens, human trafficking.
On 5 August the participants gathered for the second time to present their developments. Three groups prepared e-presentations, others presented projects in print. What is next?
It is high time to implement developments. It all depends on the members of the initiative groups. For the implementation of the planned activities they need to raise funds. Recently the International Renaissance Foundation announced the grant competition "Safe community – shared interest, shared responsibility". Representatives of 7 NGOs: Kherson Club of Extreme Journalism, Kherson Regional Charitable Foundation "Mangust", Kherson Regional Charity and Health Foundation, the youth NGO "New Generation", Successful Woman, IRC Legal Space, NGO "Kordon" decided to join forces and prepare a partnership project. A number of organizations, including the Regional centre for FSLA in the Kherson region and the Kherson self-defense are ready to be involved in the process.
Of course, it is impossible to solve all problems within one project. The participants are planning to continue the cooperation, establish cooperation with local authorities, to involve representatives of the authorities and volunteers.
