Kamianets-Podilskyi Lawyers Association presented to the public the results of a survey on people's satisfaction with the work of the National Police in the southern district of Khmelnytskyi region.

The public opinion survey was conducted by representatives of the Office in the framework of the project "Ensuring effective police interaction with the public." Detailed results can be found here.

The event on 23 March was joined by representatives of public authorities, local governments, and, in fact, the heroes of the survey - representatives of the National Police.

Kamianets-Podilskyi office of the Legal Development Network was represented by its Director Viktoria Ilchyshena, the lawyer Maksym Ilchyshen and the Office lawyer Maksym Romaniuk.

The participants drew attention that today the police have a certain credit of trust from the inhabitants of Khmelnytskyi region and must meet the expectations of the public, outlined the possible ways of constructive cooperation and tools to attract population to maintain order and security in the communities.

The participants noted with pleasure that the citizens are ready to render assistance to the police. Thus, almost 75% of respondents agree to assist law enforcement in maintaining a safe environment in the city, including through joint patrols of the streets (14%), participation in ensuring public order during mass events (10%) and participation in activities aimed at combating certain types of offences (17%). The most significant part of respondents is willing to help the police by reporting offences or crimes.

Summing up, the participants identified a conceptual point of interaction between the police and the public and agreed that this survey gave rise to a new stage of cooperation of law enforcement bodies with the population based on community policing.

The event was held in Kamianets-Podilskyi office of the Legal Development Network at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Lawyers Associationin the framework of the project "Ensuring effective police interaction with the public" with the support of Program Initiative "Human Rights and Justice" of International Renaissance Foundation.
