On 25 March in Kramatorsk the working group to develop effective models of free legal aid was created.
This event was held on the initiative of NGO "Agency for Democratic Development of Donbass". The model of free legal aid will be extended to Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Liman. Within the next month experts plan to develop a package of documents for local government, necessary for creation of system of free primary legal aid. The participants of the working group are representatives of the Sloviansk and Kramatorsk city councils, representatives of the local Center for secondary legal aid, invited experts in the legal field.
The working group is facing an important task - development of a package of documents to local authorities of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Liman, the organization of public discussion of models in communities, improvement of procedural documents regulating the work of Law Community Center and Kramatorsk local Centre for free secondary legal aid, the introduction of the developed documents for consideration by local councils.
“In the framework of the working group within the month we are planning to develop the document for consideration in local governments of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Liman that would include efficient mechanisms for the integration of primary and secondary legal aid, effective mechanisms to protect the rights of inhabitants of Donbass”, said the Chairman of the Agency for Democratic Development of Donbass Serhiy Kovalenko.
The project "Development and integration of primary and secondary free legal aid in Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Chervony Liman" is performed within the Project "Quality and Accessible Legal Aid in Ukraine" implemented by the Canadian Bureau of International Education with support of the Government of Canada and Program Initiative "Human Rights and Justice" of International Renaissance Foundation.
